Le père, voyant ses enfants subir un tel supplice, se reporte à divers traitements. Puis, ressemblant de bonnes herbes médicinales aux couleurs ravissantes, au parfum et à la saveur exquis, il les pile, les tamise et les mélange. Les donnant à ses enfants, il leur dit de les prendre :

Le père, voyant à quel point ses enfants souffrent, recherche, d'après ses traités canoniques, de bonnes herbes médicinales, réunissant complètement et en tous points la couleur, l'odeur, la saveur indiquées ; ils les broie, les tamise, les mélange et les donne à boire aux enfants, leur disant : (R)

Qu'ensuite le médecin voyant ses enfants souffrants de ce mal, vaincus par la douleur, brûlés, se roulant par terre, après avoir préparé un grand médicament doué de la couleur, de l'odeur et du goût convenables, et l'avoir broyé sur une pierre, le donne en boisson à ces enfants et leur parle ainsi : (B)

Constatant l'intense souffrance de ses enfants, le père suit alors diverses prescriptions. Il rassemble diverses herbes médicinales qui répondent à toutes les exigences de couleur, saveur et odeur, il les pile, les tamise et les mélange, puis il en donne une dose à ses enfants en leur disant : (G)

The father, seeing his children suffering like this, follows various prescriptions. Gathering fine medicinal herbs that meet all the requirements of color, fragrance and flavor, he grinds, sifts and mixes them together. Giving a dose of these to his children, he tells them: (W)

The father, seeing his sons in such distress, in accordance with his prescriptions seeks for good herbs altogether perfect in color, scent, and fine flavor, and then pounds, sifts, and mixes them and gives them to his sons to take, speaking thus : (K)

"Seeing his sons suffering so much, the father consulted books of prescriptions, and collected good herbs having a good color, smell and taste. He compounded a medicine by pounding and sieving the herbs, and gave it to them, saying, (M)

The father, seeing how acute were the agonies of his sons, searched for good medicinal herbs, colorful, fragrant, and tasty, perfect in every way, guided by the prescriptions in his treatises. He pounded, sifted, and blended them, then gave them to his sons, ordering them to take them, speaking these words: (H)

"The father sees his children in such suffering and agony and, following various formulas, looks for good medicinal herbs, perfect in color, fragrance, and flavor. Then he pounds, sifts, and mixes them and gives them to his children, telling them: (Re)

- it will at once rid you of your distress
- it will remove the pain at once

"Ce médicament hautement bénéfique est parfaitement doté de couleur, parfum et saveur exquis. Vous devez le prendre et vous serez rapidement guéris de ce supplice; vous n'aurez plus tous ces tourments."

«Voici un médicament grandement efficace, qui réunit complètement en lui la forme, l'odeur et la saveur, vous allez le boire et il éliminera rapidement vos souffrances; vous n'aurez plus tous ces tourments.» (R)

Buvez, mes enfants, cette grande médecine qui a de la couleur, de l'odeur et du goût; après avoir bu, mes enfants, cette grande médecine, vous serez bien vite délivrés de ce poison, vous reviendrez à la santé, et vous n'aurez plus de mal. (B)

"Voilà un remède extrêmement efficace, de couleur, de saveur et odeur excellentes. Prenez-le, votre douleur sera aussitôt soulagée et vous serez délivrés de toute maladie." (G)

'This is a highly effective medicine, meeting all the requirements of color, fragrance and flavor. Take it and you will quickly be relieved of your sufferings and will be free of all illness.' (W)

'This excellent medicine, with color, scent, and fine flavor altogether perfect, you may [now] take, and it will at once rid you of your distress so that you will have no more suffering.' (K)

'This is a very good medicine. It has good color, smell and taste. Take it! It will remove the pain at once and you will not suffer any more.' (M)

'Take these great and good herbs, colorful, fragrant, and tasty, perfect in every way, for you shall then quickly be rid of your agonies, and shall never again be subject to a host of torments.' (H)

Ceux des nombreux enfants qui n'ont pas perdu l'esprit peuvent voir que la couleur et le parfum du médicament sont bons, aussi le prennent-ils et sont complètement guéris.

Ceux de ses fils qui n'ont pas perdu l'esprit voient que ce bon remède combine couleur et saveur agréables et l'absorbent donc : leur maladie se trouve complètement guérie. (R)

Alors que ceux de ces enfants dont les idées ne sont pas fausses, après avoir vu la couleur de ce médicament, après en avoir flairé l'odeur, et savouré le goût, le boivent, aussitôt et qu'ils soient complètement, entièrement délivrés de leur mal. (B)

Ceux des enfants qui n'ont pas perdu l'esprit réalisent que c'est un bon remède, d'une couleur et d'une odeur exceptionnelles. Ils le prennent donc aussitôt et sont en­tièrement guéris. (G)

"Those children who have not lost their senses can see that this is good medicine, outstanding in both color and fragrance, so they take it immediately and are completely cured of their sickness. (W)

Those amongst the sons who are sensible, seeing this excellent medicine with color and scent both good, take it immediately and are totally delivered from their illness. (K)

"The sons who had not lost their right minds saw that this good medicine had a good color and smell, took it at once, and were cured completely. (M)

Among the sons, those who had not lost their sanity, seeing that these herbs were good in both color and fragrance, straightway took them, and their sickness was completely removed and healed. (H)

"Those children who have not lost their minds, seeing this excellent medicine of good color and fragrance, take it immediately and are completely cured of their illness. (Re)

Mais ceux qui ont perdu l'esprit refusent de prendre le médicament, bien qu'ils soient tout aussi heureux de voir leur père et qu'ils l'aient prié de les guérir.

Les autres, qui ont perdu l'esprit, voient leur père venir, mais bien qu'ils le saluent eux aussi avec joie et lui demandent instamment de soigner leur mal, lorsqu'il leur donne le remède, ils se refusent à l'absorber. (R)

Mais que ceux de ces enfants dont les idées sont fausses, après avoir salué leur père, lui parlent ainsi : Salut, cher père, tu es heureusement revenu sain et sauf et en bonne santé ; donne-nous la guérison ; qu'ils prononcent ces paroles, mais qu'ils ne boivent pas la médecine qui leur est présentée. (B)

Ceux qui ont perdu l'esprit sont tout aussi réjouis du retour de leur père et le supplient aussi de les guérir, mais, lorsque le remède leur est tendu, ils refusent de le prendre. (G)

Those who are out of their minds are equally delighted to see their father return and beg him to cure their sickness, but when they are given the medicine, they refuse to take it. (W)

The others, who have lost their senses, seeing their father come, though they are also delighted, salute him, and ask him to heal their illness, yet when he offers them the medicine, they are unwilling to take it. (K)

But the sons who had already lost their right minds did not consent to take the medicine given to them, although they rejoiced at seeing their father come home and asked him to cure them, because they were so perverted that they did not believe that this medicine having a good color and smell had a good taste. (M)

The others, who had lost their sanity, though when they saw their father coming they, too, inquired after him joyfully and sought a cure for their sickness, yet, when given the medicine, still would not take it. (H)

The others, who have lost their minds, arc also happy to see their father return and ask him to heal their illness. Yet when the medicine is given to them, they refuse to take it. (Re)
