Installation d'un Gohonzon

On the matter of the Gohonzon for Luis, this is what I advise.

If possible do this on a day when no other services or ceremonies are being done. This can be done privately or publicly depending upon circumstances. If you wanted to do it during the time when people will be there for the retreat that would be very nice.

To dedicate the Gohonzon this is what I instruct: Please say out loud to everyone present “What I am about to do I am doing under the guidance of Ryusho Jeffus Shonin. I Isabelle Kolitcheff do this as an expedient to support the spread of the Lotus Sutra. The ritual we will now perform together is intended to celebrate and join together this community of believers, our Sangha. During this ceremony we will be dedicating this Gohonzon for the benefit of faith and practice to Luis (and last name). We are connecting our lives to Luis through this Great Ten Worlds Omandala the treasure and perfect circle of benefit revealed by our founder Nichiren Shonin. This is not an Eye-Opening or consecration ceremony but a dedication of our support as Sangha members to uphold our faith as well as support each other in faith. It is fundamentally our own practice which awakens the protective deities of the universe. On this the XXth Day of XX Month of XXXX Year.

Then perform a regular service, though you may omit Chapter II if you wish to shorten because of time.

During Odaimoku while everyone is chanting with clean hands (gloves if you have - but not necessary) hold the Omandala out flat horizontally. Over the stick of incense pass the Omandala through the smoke in a circular motion in a clockwise direction.

Then while everyone is still chanting remover yourself to a suitable nearby location for writing. Your kitchen table is ideally located (that was good planning on your part many years ago for this very occasion - you probably did not know that).

Say to yourself three Odaimoku and on the back of the Omandala write as I instruct in the photo I am attaching. Please translate but write it in exactly the format I have illustrated. Because the sheet I was writing on was small it should be like this across the entire width of the scroll:

Line 1 - Date as written with the words Year Month Day 
Line 2 - Dedicated under direction of: Ryusho Jeffus Shonin (then my Kanji name characters)
Line 3 - Written by: Isabelle Kolitcheff
Line 4 - This Ten Worlds Omandala for: Luis (last name)

(below this please write this passage from the Lotus Sutra)

“Good man, in your future life, you will be able to attain immeasurable wisdom, that is the great enlightenment of the Buddha. Your world will be pure and large without parallel” Chapter XIV

“Arouse your power of faith, and do good patiently! You will be able to hear the Dharma that you will never have heard before.” Chapter XV

“Protect this sutra…so that it may be propagated and not be destroyed. Protect this sutra so that many living beings may obtain peace and benefit.” Chapter XXVIII

Then respectfully with your heart chant Odaimoku along with the sangha as you put away the writing tools, and return the Gohonzon to the altar.

Conclude the service.

Conseils pour l'installation du Gohonzon de Luis

Si possible, faites-le un jour où il n'y a pas d'autres services ou cérémonies. Cela peut se faire en privé ou en public, selon les circonstances. Si vous voulez le faire pendant la période où les gens seront là pour la retraite, ce serait très bien.

Pour consacrer le Gohonzon, voici ce que je préconise : Dites à haute voix à toutes les personnes présentes : "Ce que je m'apprête à faire, je le fais sous la direction de Ryusho Jeffus Shonin. Moi, Isabelle Kolitcheff, je fais cela en tant qu'expédient pour soutenir la diffusion du Sutra du Lotus. Le rituel que nous allons maintenant accomplir ensemble a pour but de célébrer et d'unir cette communauté de croyants, notre Sangha. Au cours de cette cérémonie, nous allons dédier ce Gohonzon au bénéfice de la foi et de la pratique à Luis (nom de famille). Nous unissons nos vies à Luis par le biais de cet Omandala des Dix mondes-états, trésor et cercle parfait de bienfaits révélés par notre fondateur Nichiren Shonin. Ce n'est pas une cérémonie d'ouverture des yeux ou de consécration, mais d'une dédicasse de notre soutien en tant que membres du Sangha afin de maintenir notre foi et de nous soutenir mutuellement dans la foi. C'est fondamentalement notre propre pratique qui éveille les divinités protectrices de l'univers. En ce XXe jour du XXe mois de l'année XXXX.

Ensuite, effectuez un service régulier, bien que vous puissiez omettre le chapitre II si vous souhaitez raccourcir en raison du temps.

Pendant l'Odaimoku que tout le monde récite tenez l'Omandala à plat, horizontalement. Au-dessus du bâton d'encens, faites passer l'Omandala à travers la fumée dans un mouvement circulaire dans le sens des aiguilles d'une montre.

Puis, pendant que tout le monde psalmodie, mettez-vous dans un endroit approprié pour écrire. La table basse devant le butsudan est idéale (vous l'avez bien planifiée il y a de nombreuses années pour cette occasion précise - sans même le savoir).

Récitez trois daimoku et au dos de l'Omandala écrivez comme je l'indique sur la photo jointe. Veuillez traduire, mais écrivez exactement dans le format que j'ai illustré. La feuille sur laquelle j'ai écrit est petite, mais cela doit prendre toute la largeur du parchemin :

Ligne 1 - Date en toutes lettres : Année Mois Jour 
Ligne 2 - Dédié sous la direction de Ryusho Jeffus Shonin (puis les caractères de mon nom en kanji)
Ligne 3 - Écrit par : Isabelle Kolitcheff
Ligne 4 - Cet Omandala des Dix mondes-états est pour : Luis (nom de famille)

(en dessous, écrivez ce passage du Sutra du Lotus)

« Fils de foi sincère,  dans un âge à venir,  tu obtiendras la sagesse incommensurable,  la grande Voie de bouddha;  ton royaume sera orné et pur, vaste au-delà de toute comparaison. »   Chapitre XIV

« Produisez maintenant la force de la foi, demeurez dans l'adhésion patiente au bien. Le Dharma jamais entendu autrefois pourra l'être à présent de tous. » Chapitre XV

« Protège ce Sutra… afin qu’il soit propagé et non pas détruit. Protège ce sutra afin d’en faire abondamment profiter les êtres pour leur bien et  les mener à la sérénité.  Chapitre XXVIII

"Puis, avec respect, récitez de tout cœur daimoku avec le sangha tout en rangeant les ustencils d'écriture et en remettant le Gohonzon sur l'autel.

Terminez la cérémonie
